COAL: A HUMAN HISTORY

Okay I finally have time to post!!!
First off i'm going to say that my first choice was to read Garbage Wars....but it wasn't in stock. Second choice was Dumping in Dixie..........again wasn't in stock. So I was left with my third choice Coal by Barbara Freese. So far I have read pages 1-69.

Its funny how someone can write a book all about coal. I was surprised to read and it really be all about coal. I thought their was going to be some other story the auther was going to tell , but no the story so far is REALLY ALL ABOUT COAL.

note: I would have never picked up this book on my own.

It goes back as far as 1306. Now thats some history. It talks about how coal can be compared to oil and how everyone wants to strike oil but nobody wants to find a lump of coal. But as i continue reading I realize how imortant coal actually is or was, although it does contribute to global warming when burned.

I feel like the book is going to tell me about how coal can be very usefull at times but also on the other hand very destructive. And most of the time they go hand in hand.

Coal mining has been one of the topics that has intrigued me so far. It was talking about how coal miners faced the chance of death every day. And facing death by all four elements: earth, fire, water, and air. It's crazy how people would actually do this jop with such a huge chance of dieing and if not dieing facing bad health problems later on just for a little bit of coal.

Thats all i gotta say so far......until i read more about COALLLL.

coal Coal COAL!!!!!!!!!!!-yAY!
